I am extremely grateful to Keith Slater for his attempts to trace 98er’s. Unfortunately, the news we sometimes receive is very sad and this has been the case with Cyril Woolford. I reproduce what Keith has written so that it can be retained in the Entry website Obituary category.
‘I believe I have traced Cyril Woolford but not with the [...]

Who says I can’t sail? (This is me let loose at the wheel of an A class offshore racer in Akaroa New Zealand)
I had an enjoyable chat with Leo Hendricks the other day. It’s stange how people remember different things from forty five years ago. He recalled an occasion on the Norfolk Broads. We had [...]

“F” pan at Waddo in the summer is not the warmest or calmest place in this land. In winter, it is positively hostile territory, I am sure I once saw the Russian SAS there getting in some experience for a Siberian posting. On a good day, it plays havoc with the bladder; on a bad [...]

Mick Mason’s comments about the Transistor Radio reminded me of our Saturday morning parades in 1 Wing. Being one of the Trumpeters and standing ‘miles away’ from the actual parade I remember one of our group having a small radio tucked inside his jacket enabling us to listen to the music while the others were [...]

Stuart guarding the Barrack Block against intruders!
The banners were borrowed by Stuart from a trumpeter as we marched off the parade square following our ‘Passing Out’ parade! Who was it that said we didn’t pull any stunts? The banners may bring back memories to our trumpet blowing fraternity.
Many thanks for the photos Stu and I look forward to seeing you [...]
