My Brother and I tried that once. 6 horse race - 3 certs, 3 no-hopers. We covered the 3 certs every way. No prizes for guessing what came 4th, 5th and "is still running!"

I was the victim Geoff. I had to pay another rail fare to get a bloke out of my wife's seat which was booked and paid for from Delhi to Bangalore. She was what they call waitlisted. It means, unless you are prepared to pay more money to the superintendent you don’t go any where. Corrupt everywhere you go in India but strangely, I find them to be lovely people. Lovely corrupt people.

Mike, I was surprised to hear you say you have firsthand experience in corruption and backhanders, there was me thinking that Magistrates are honest. If you have any tips please let me know, it might supplement my pension.

I write so much rubbish I am not sure if it was India or Pakistan. Nevertheless, they both get great dollops of our money and both spend a fortune on defence. Its absolutely nuts for our politicians to be carrying on in this way giving our money away to these corrupt countries and ring fence that budget also! It just isn’t cricket. Oops! That’s typical of how these countries operate. Corrupt back-handers everywhere you go, that’s the way it works and I have first hand experience of it.

There's a whole raft of social injustices, both at home and abroad, touched upon in various postings in this blog. The big question that forever remains is how does anybody ever manage to do something about them? There's the rub!

Many opinions expressed here are held by a common sense employing majority of the electorate. Irrespective we still keep getting the same old chestnuts severely upsetting both our lives and our bank accounts. All sweeping policies made in our name.

What's to be done about immigration, street crime, holiday-home prisons, quangos, bankers bonuses, overseas aid to those able to afford looking after their own population and pernicious political 'troughing' from all sides of the spectrum for a start?

I'm once again reminded of another of mother's expressions: Too much tongue-pie and not enough 'do'! Come back Mum and get into No. 10 - your not-so-common sense is sorely missed.

There are only two things in life which are fair, birth and death. Everything else can be deemed unfair, better be contented with your lot and make the best of it. Tomorrow is a whole new ball game and if you are lucky it will be on a level playing field. Its unlikely, instinctively someone will always try to get some advantage.
